Retirement Planning Information Sessions

Retraite Québec shares various responsibilities with the Cégep Marie-Victorin and the Centre Louis-Jolliet, both respected organizations in the field of retirement planning, in order to offer retirement planning information sessions that are comprehensive and accessible. They discuss a variety of topics and are intended to assist you in better planning this new phase of your life.


The sessions are for all members of the main public-sector pension plans that we administer (the public service, education, and health and social services sectors), who plan to retire within the next five years. The sessions are intended for members of:

  • The Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (RREGOP)
  • The Pension Plan of Peace Officers in Correctional Services (PPPOCS)
  • The Retirement Plan for Active Members of the Centre hospitalier Côte-des-Neiges (RPCHCN)
  • The Teachers Pension Plan (TPP)
  • The Pension Plan of Certain Teachers (PPCT)
  • The Pension Plan of Management Personnel (PPMP)
  • The Pension Plan for Federal Employees Transferred to Employment with the Gouvernement du Québec (PPFEQ)
  • The Retirement Plan for Senior Officials (RPSO)
  • The Civil Service Superannuation Plan (CSSP)

Topics covered

The RPIS covers various topics, presented by experienced professionals:

  • Welcome and presentation – Making the transition into retirement (3.25 hours)
  • Benefits and group insurance (2 hours)
  • Legal aspects (1.5 hours)
  • Québec Pension Plan (QPP) and public-sector pension plans (3.25 hours)
  • Personal finances (2.5 hours)


Attending a session

You have several possibilities:

  • Two consecutive weekdays (normal work schedule).
  • One evening a week for four weeks.
  • One weekend.
  • Online (four half-days spread over two weeks).

The registration fee of $300 per person is generally paid by the employer. However, obtaining your supervisor’s approval is necessary to validate your registration.

Your spouse may register for the same session as you if he or she pays the registration fee.
